Children's program Cairo and surroundings
Egypt ... land of the pharaohs. Nowhere in the world we can see so much that has been remained from a time going back thousands of years. Egypt is absolutely unique and so was the ancient civilisation that built the pyramids. Although some of the mysteries are reveiled, still we don't have all the answers about why and how they did it. Maybe it will always remain a mystery, something to wonder about. Not only will you see these enormous pyramids, you will even go inside. After a refreshing drink or a tea in a palace of one thousand and one night, you go for a camelride into the desert.

The medieval part of Cairo is like a labyrinth of narrow streets and alleys. You'll see the coppersmith, hammering bowls; the shoemaker in his tiny workshop and you'll smell the lovely fragrance of incense and many many herbs. It peppered with tiny shops and ofcourse every shopkeeper wants you to come in to take something home from his shop. There are streets with so many goldshops that it looks like all the gold of the world is sold overthere and... not only is it well manufactured, it's also inexpensive.

The Egyptian Museum of Antiquity is like the treasure storehouse of ancient Egypt. One of the many treasures is the magnificent golden masque of pharaoh Tutankhamun. Those who dare, can see real mummies of famous pharaohs. You can also see what kind of shoes and clothes people were wearing thousands of years ago.

On an island in the river Nile a 'living' village has been created that brings the time of the Pharaos back to life by an incredible group of actors and actresses, faithful and exact reproductions of buildings, clothing, and lifestyles.

A nice drive through the peaceful green countryside will bring you to some more pyramids. You'll see the farmers working in the fields, still using the same tools as in the old days, children riding donkeys and women carrying hugh water jars on their head. During the hottest part of the day they come together to have a tea or take a nap in the shade of a tree.

Special for children travelling with Ancient Egypt Tours
Because of our good contacts with the local people, we can offer you the opportunity to visit an Egyptian family at home. For larger groups we will arrange to visit a school.

In Egypt the family lives traditionally together with grandpa, grandma, uncles, auties and cousins in one big house. Each family has its own appartment. Therefor the children are never alone at home. All familymembers have very close ties and they take good care of eachother.
Egyptians are extremely hospitable and you will centainly be invited to have a tea together. Egyptian children are always curious after our way of living and we can learn a lot about the Egyptian, often Islamic way of life.
Cairo has so much to offer that you can easely spend a week overthere. However, there is still so much more to see in Egypt. You can continue your tour to Luxor and visit the famous temples and tombs, or even sail from Luxor all the way to Aswan. You can also combine your tour with a pleasant beach holiday at the Red Sea.
