From Luxor you can make a cruise to Aswan. You will sail 4 to 5 days and the cruise is inclusive the excursionprogram. Both young and old enjoy sailing on such a big boat on the Nile. The disadvantage is that the visits of the temples is done in large groups. But it is certainly worth considering.
The program starts with visiting the Temple of Luxor and the Templecity of Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Hatshepsut (see Luxorprogram). Along the way to Aswan the boat stops for visits of the Temple of the falcongod Horus at Edfu and the beautiful double Temple of Horus the Elder and Sobek the crocodilegod. Here you can even see mummified crocodiles.
Aswan is situated all the way in the south of Egypt. This is the place of the Nubian people with their beautiful dark skin. In Aswan you can see an enormous obelisk that is still connected to the granite rocks. Because the obelisk bursted in one place, the work was abandoned. Lucky for us, because it gives us the opportunity to find out the methods that were used at the time of the pharaos, to get the hugh obelisks out of the rock. You'll also visit the High Dam and Lake Nasser, the biggest artificial lake in the world. A motorboat will take you to Philae Island where you'll find the Temple of the Goddess Isis. While in Aswan it's lovely to sail a felucca on the Nile and visit the Botanical Island and/or a Nubian village.
It is also possible to do the cruise from Aswan to Luxor. A very nice alternative is to sail with the felucca from Aswan till Esna. From there you will be transported by coach or minibus to Luxor. Click on the link at the bottom of this page to read more about the felucca sail.
If you feel like doing the above program from Luxor to Aswan on your own, we will arrange a private air-conditioned coach or minibus for your party.
