For more than three thousand years the statue of the Goddess Sekhmet stands in her temple where she was venerated and her powers used by her priests and priestesses.

Sekhmet is one of the oldest God forms known to humanity. Her name means 'Powerful'. She is the Lady of the Place of Beginning of Time, the One who was before the Gods were, the Great One of Magic. As wife-sister of Ptah, she forms the Triade of Memphis, together with their son Nefertem.

The initiation into the mysteries of the Goddess Sekhmet is intended for women who have a special attraction to this ancient Goddess or have a connection to Sekhmet in some way.
Maybe, while reading about Sekhmet, you get a feeling that want to know more about her. This can be an indication that you have a special link with her.
The Goddess Sekhmet, as a strongly transmuting God form, was called upon when other Godforms were no longer sufficient  and fundamental values came endangered. Working with such a powerful force requires wisdom and balance, both inner and to outside. For this reason it speaks for itself that working with Sekhmet is less suitable for young women, who are at another important stage of development.

What does the initiation imply?

After a first familiarisation with the Goddess Sekhmet in her Temple, you learn how a Ritual is carried out, what the meaning is of a ritual and what it can do for you. Each day we will visit Sekhmet in her Temple, where we perform the Ritual together. You don't need to have experience with working in a temple. Important is your intention, your sincere wish to work with this God form.
You will also learn how to daily ritually clean yourself and before entering the temple.

What you need to know

* This is not a workshop or therapy, but a unique possibility to work in a real temple, which normally is closed for public.
* The energy of Sekhmet is strong and needs to be handled with great care. For this reason the energy of this temple has been sealed thousands of years ago by the priests and priestesses of Sekhmet.
* Please realise that your life will no longer be the same after working in Sekhmets' temple. Sekhmet highly strengthens your self-esteem.
* If you are under psychotherapeutic treatment or has been for the last year, it is not possible to do this work.
* You must be in balance: spiritually, mentally and physically.
* Working with Sekhmet requires a large degree of responsibility and also a certain degree of humility.

The priests and priestesses of Sekhmet were master-healers. A training for that purpose belongs to the future possibilities. Some among you might feel already that this is meant for you to do. If so, you must be willing to dedicate yourself for a long time to this aspect of Sekhmet. During the initiation week it will become clear to you if and in what way Sekhmet will continue to work with you.

The initiation into the mysteries of Sekhmet is conducted by Gerda van der Linden. She guides the Temple Tour and Mysteries of Cairo for Ancient Egypt Tours and is head of organization in The Netherlands.
Gerda has been trained in working with the Egyptian God forms in the temple for over 10 years.
Besides of her Egyptian work, she teaches the ancient Hawaiian process of forgiveness and healing 'Selfidentity through Ho'oponopono'  and has a practice for authentic Hawaiian Lomilomi massage.

Practical information

The initiation into the mysteries of Sekhmet lasts for 5 days. Including the day of arrival and departure the total is 7 days.
The initiation can be combined with the other tours.
