Ancient Egyptian healing in Abydos

The ancient Egyptian tradition knew two types of mysteries: thet Akhut and the Sesheta. The Akhut, or glorious mysteries, were performed by priests and priestesses for the entire population. These mysteries generally existed of ritual drama, festivals, song and dancing.
The Sesheta mystery concerned the individual relation with the Divine and took place within the temple in front of the shrine of the God Form. In the 'normal' literature there is almost no information to be found about the Sesheta mysteries. The knowledge has been passed on in the 'hidden' temples and in the mysteryschools.

Sekhmet has many different aspects, each representing one of her specific qualities. Being the daughter of the Sungod Ra, Sekhmet can become too enthousiastic, too passionate with her untamed energy. For this reason you will learn to transform her extreme fiery strength into her more soft, nurturing Bast-Sekhmet energy.

Sekhmet also possesses transforming healing qualities. In order to work with these qualities, one needs to have insight in mental and emotional processes. The priests and priestesses of Sekhmet were highly specialized healers. For yourself and especially if you work in the area of mental health care, this aspect of Sekhmet might turn out to be of great value.

The five initiation days have the character of a mysteryschool linked to the temple of Sekhmet.
You will learn ritual bathing, cleansing and preparing the temple, the rituals, use of sacred oils, sacred texts, names and hymns.
