Climate
Egypt is mainly desert. In spite of the Sahara's notorious heat, it can be chilly at night, especially during the winter. As soon as the morning sun appears the sand warms up, but when the sun sets, the desert cools as rapidly as it warmed. The temperature during winter, spring and fall in Egypt is lovely. The summer is pretty hot and sometimes humid in Cairo, more hot but dry heat in Luxor and Aswan. At the Reds Sea is always a lovely temperature.
Below is an indication of the daytime temperatures during the year. The first number is the temperature in Cairo, the second in Aswan.

Jan. 19/24 C - 67/76 F, Feb. 20/26 C - 68/80 F, March 24/31 C - 76/88 F, April 28/36 C - 83/97 F, May 32/39 C - 90/102 F, June 35/41 C- 97/106 F, July 35/41 C - 95/106 F, August 35/41 C -  95/106 F, Sept. 31/39 C - 88/102 F, Oct. 29/39 C - 84/102 F, Nov. 25/31 C - 77/88 F, Dec. 20/25 C - 68/77 F.
People of Egypt
Egyptians are one of the nicest, friendly people on this planet. The children are really adorable and very curious after you. Those, speaking some english love to will try their skill on you. The Egyptians in general like to make you feel at home and welcome in their country.

Dressing code
Cairo is a place of mixed modern and traditional dressed people. Some women wear a headscarf, others don't, it does not seem to bother them too much. Most girls wear trousers. Naked skin is for Egyptian women taboo. In the countryside the married women wear their traditional black dresses.
Because the Egyptians are used to western tourists, you will not get a stinky eye if you wear in a miniskirt. However, being the guest in this country, it is very much appreziated by the Egyptians if you wear long trousers or skirts and cover your arms. At the hotel or on the beach you can wear whatever you feel like. Bring your bathingsuit, our hotels all have nice swimmingpools.
Food and drinks
Egyptian food reflects the country's melting pot history. There is something for everyone's taste. Our hotels have excellent restaurants and a lovely buffet-style breakfast, however we will also eat at local restaurants where only original Egyptian food is served .... it's delicious!
The drinking of ahwa (coffee) is a national tradition and so is karkaday, a clear bright-red drink made of dried hibiscus flowers. A treat are the fresh fruit juices. Although devout Muslims refrain from drinking alcohol, beer and wine are available in bars and restaurants.
Health
Tradition says that to drink from the water of the Nile ensures your return to Egypt, but in fact it is better to drink bottled spring water, which is available everywhere. If you use medicines, also take the prescription with you. Check with your doctor if vaccinations are needed or look at
A tested recipe to prevent diarrhea is to take 2 umeboshi pills (dried salted Japanese plums) in the morning. Available at the healthfood store. Ofcourse the best way to prevent diseases is to stay in balance and take enough rest. So ... just relax, take it easy and get in tune with the rhythm of Egypt.
How safe is Egypt?
The news on TV is confronting us daily with the results of extreme points of view in culture, religion, politics. However in our day to day lives we hardly encouter anything like that and the same is true for Egypt. The incidents of attacking tourists some years ago did not stop people to come to visit Egypt and the Egyptian government has taken severe messurements for protecting tourists as well as their own people. Police and military are present in the streets and at touristic sites. Egypt is as safe or as dangererous as your own country. Look at the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of your country for traveladvise.
